When I first started writing these posts I should have outlined who my audience is for these blogs. I had a target in mind but didn’t tell anyone.
My target audience is the owners of small to medium businesses or web developers who want to know more about the marketing side of the web. It is my hope that readers of these posts will get some ideas that they can have implemented or things they can do themselves. The web is a constantly changing world and strategies for attracting people to your website that worked 6 – 12 months ago may no longer be worth the effort.
A very good example of these changes is the change Google made to their Search Results for businesses that serve a local audience. Their local results from their “Google Places’ nearly takes up the entire first page now. If you business ranked on the first page in the normal search results, ‘organic results’, in the past you may find you are no longer on the first page. You need to complete your ‘Google Places’ Listing which by the way is free.
You can assign this task to your webmaster but you had better make sure she has all the appropriate business marketing information. You can do it yourself or hire a web marketer to do this.
My blog is meant to appeal to the person who can benefit from this type information. You not actually be doing the web work yourself but knowing the types of things to do should benefit your business a variety of ways.
